Joining the Cloud of Witnesses
Joining the cloud of witnesses
Joining the saints of old
Joining the grand stand of those
Who have finished their work.
Precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His saint
Absent in the body,
Present with the Lord.
He fought a good fight
He finished his race
He kept the faith
Henceforth is laid up for him
A crown of righteousness
Which the Lord, the righteous Judge
Will give, not only to him
But to all those who are waiting
For His glorious appearing.
Worthy Is the Lamb
8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
9 And they sang a new song, saying: ” You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”
11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands,
12 saying with a loud voice: ” Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”
13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: ” Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”
Hebrews 12: The Race of Faith
1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. 2Tim4:6-8
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His saints. Ps116:15
6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord.
30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit John19:30.
